We all live with fear and everyone in this world has fear to one or other thing. Fear that hangs around us, slowly whispering in our ears, reminding us of things we can’t do or will never be able to do. But that’s not the end of the story, real thrilling, action-packed, emotion-charged experience comes when you really…. “Yes, you heard me right” really overcome it.
Jayalgarh was really an electrifying and fear-fighting experience for me as it was my first experience with life-threatening adventurous activities.Jayalgarh is approximately 90 km from Rishikesh near Devprayag, pitched up on the bank of the extravagant River Alaknanda, and away from any tourist destinations or place of pilgrimage (Plus Point).
It was around three years back when I went for a spunky and full of excitement camp with my BFF to Jayalgarh and some unfamiliar teenagers (though good friends now). We boarded train from Ahmedabad to Haridwar. From Haridwar to Jayalgarh, our camp site was a bus journey of approximately 3-4 hours. The camp included activities like White Water Rafting, Kayaking, Bridge Slithering, Cliff Jumping, Rappelling, Jumaring, Bonfires and Team games. White Water Rafting was the main activity of this trip of about 12 km on the first day with Grade I and II level of rapids and about 25 km with Grade III level of rapids. Rapid is an extremely fast-moving part of a river, caused by a steep descent or a rock in the riverbed. Rapids are graded on an international scale from I to VI. The cliff jumping was for height of about 15 feet on the first and 30 feet on the next day, which was the thing I feared of but finally I overcome it.
Here is a brief itinerary about the trip.
Day 01: We (I and my BFF) started our journey from Baroda, Gujarat early morning by train to Ahmedabad, where we were to join other members of the group. We all departed from Ahmedabad for Haridwar by train in the morning.
Day 02: Next day, we reach Haridwar in the afternoon, and departed for Jayalgarh by bus. The bus journey as I said was of 4-5 hours, so we arrived at the Campsite in the evening. The view of the campsite was definitely amazing. The camp is just situated on the bank of the outrageous River Alaknanda. There was tent allotment after which we freshened up and had our supper.
Day 03: Post breakfast, we went for Rappelling and Jumaring and post lunch, we went for some water exercise and next activity was Kayaking.
Day 04: Post breakfast, we left for White water Rafting on River Alaknanda. It was for about 12 km with Grade I and II level of rapids. Post lunch, we went for bridge slithering which was for about 30 feet height.
Day 05: After breakfast, we went for rafting on River Alaknanda for the second time for about 30 km with cliff jump of about 30 feet height.
Day 06: Departure for Haridwar post breakfast and from there we headed over to Ahmedabad by train.
Day 07: Arrival at Ahmedabad in the evening.
